Flag of Zimbabwe
The flag of Zimbabwe consists of seven horizontal colored stripes. The stripes at the extreme ends are green, followed by yellow strpes, and then red stripes. the stripe at the centre is black in color. The left side of the flag has a white equilateral triangle. One edge of it is merged into the entire left vertical height of the flag. At the centre of this triangle there is a symbol of the Soapstone Bird (Statuette of a bird found at the ruins of Great Zimbabwe which is also the Official symbol of Zimbabwe). Beneath the Soapstone bird there is a red five point star.
Each color in the Zimbabwe flag represents:
- Green for agricultural and rural areas of Zimbabwe.
- Yellow for the wealth of minerals in the country.
- Red for blood shed during the war of liberation.
- Black for the heritage and ethnicity of the native Africans of Zimbabwe.
- White for peace.
The flag was adopted by Zimbabwe on April 18, 1980.
