Flag of Wake Island

The flag of United States is used for Wake Island. The flag consists of 13 alternating red and white horizontal stripes with red stripes at the top and bottom. There are seven red stripes and six whtie stripes. A dark blue rectangular block is placed in the top left corner of the flag with 50 white five point stars. The stars are arranged the nine horizontal rows.

The first flag having 45 stars was hoisted on the Wake Island on July 4, 1898 by Major General Francis V. Greene and the subsequent end of war transferred the island to United States. Finally the 50 star flag was hoisted in December 1941 after the war with Japan.
