Flag of Uzbekistan

The flag of Uzbekistan has three horizontal equal width stripes, sky blue at the top followed by white and green at the bottom. The white stripe is bordered by red on the top and bottom. On the left of the blue stripe a white crescent moon (new moon) is placed. Beside the moon there are 12 five point white stars arranged in three horizontal rows in ascending order. The stars on the right side of the rows are perfectly alligned with each other.

The colors in the flag represent:

The crescent moon symbolizes the historical traditions of Uzbekistan. The 12 stars represent the divine symbols and 12 is the number for the divine calendar.

The flag was adopted by Seventh Extraordinary Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan on November 18, 1991.
