Flag of United Arab Emirates
The flag of United Arab Emirates consists of three equal width horizontal stripes, green at the top, followed by white and finally black at the bottom. There is a red block on the left side of the flag. The height of the block is equal to that of the flag while the width is 1/4th the length of the flag.
The colors are Pan-Arab colors which symbolize Arabian Unity. Each color represents:
- Green for the fertility of the land.
- White for neutrality.
- Black for the oil wealth of the nation.
The flag was adopted on December 2, 1971 and officially hoisted on January 1, 1972.
