Flag of Uganda
The flag of Uganda has six equal width horizontal stripes. The stripes follow the sequence of black, yellow, red and repeating again. Hence, there are 2 red, 2 yellow and 2 black stripes. At the centre of the flag there is a white circle with a 'Crane' placed inside it. The beak, some feathers of the wing and the tail are colored in red. Where as the legs are colored black. the 'Crane' is facing towards the left of the flag.
The colors of the flag represent:
- Red for brotherhood and fraternity.
- Yellow for the sun.
- Black for the people of Uganda.
The 'Crane' is also the national symbol of Uganda. The flag was adopted on October 9, 1962 and was designed by the minister of justice at the time, Mr. Grace Ibingira.
