Flag of Trinidad and Tobago
The flag of Trinidad and Tobago has a red background with a black diagonal stripe from the top left corner to the bottom right. The stripe is bordered in white on either side.
The colors of the flag represent:
- Red for the courage of the people and the land.
- Black for strength, unity and purpose.
- White for the sea that bounds the land.
Together the colors are said to represent the natural elements earth, water and fire. The flag was adopted on August 31, 1962 after the independence from Britain.
