Flag of Tonga

The flag of Tonga has red background with a white rectangular panel in the top left corner. There is a red 'plus' sign placed at the centre of the panel. The height of the panel is half the height of the flag.

The cross is symbolic of christianity in the island.

The flag was adopted on November 4, 1875 and is said to be designed by the Tongan king, George Tupou I.
