Flag of Togo
The flag of Togo has 5 equal width horizontal stripes alternating between green and yellow. There are 3 green stripes and 2 yellow stripes. In the top left corner there is a square red colored block which has a white five point star placed at the centre of it. The height of the block is equivalent to the width of 3 stripes.
The colors of the flag represent:
- Green for the agricultural land.
- Yellow for the mineral wealth.
- Red for the blood shed during war of independence.
The 5 stripes in the flag symbolize the 5 regions of Togo and the white star symbolizes purity, peace and Togo's independence.
The flag was adopted on April 27, 1960 after its independence from France and was designed by Mr. Ahyi Paul.
