Flag of Timor-Leste
The flag of Timor-Leste has a red background. There are 2 isosceles triangles placed on the left side whose bases merge with one another. One triangle is black which superimposes a yellow triangle. The length of the yellow triangle is 1/2 the length of the flag while that of the black triangle is 1/3rd the length of the flag. A white five point star is placed at the centre of the black triangle.
The colors of the flag represent:
- Red for the blood shed.
- Yellow for the traces of colonialism.
- Black for the obscurantism that needs to be overcome.
- White for peace.
The flag was adopted on May 20, 2002.
