Flag of South Africa
The flag of South Africa has 2 equal width horizontal stripes at the top and bottom. the stripe at the top is colored red and the bottom one is colored blue. A horizontal green 'Y' is placed at the centre of the flag and is facing towards left. The 'Y' end of the stripe is filled by a black triangle which is lined by yellow on sides touching the 'Y'. The red and blue stripes are separated from the 'Y' by thin white stripes.
The colors of the flag do not represent anything in general but the design itself represents the merging of both the past and the future.
The flag was adopted on April 27, 1994 during the first free elections and the end of apartheid.
