Flag of European Union
The flag of European Union has a dark blue background with golden stars forming a circle at the centre. There are total 12 number of stars, each positioned according to the dial of a clock and each star having five points. The radius of the circle is approximately 1/3rd the height of the flag.
The dark blue color represents the western sky, the circle represents unity and harmony among the people of Europe and the 12 stars represent completeness and perfection, like 12 months in a year or 12 signs of zodiac or 12 Apostles or 12 sons of Jacob, etc..
The flag was first adopted by the Council of Europe in 1955. Later in 1985 the flag became the official emblem of the European Union.
