Flag of Cameroon
The national flag of Cameroon is divided into three vertical stripes of green (the hoist side), red and yellow color. A yellow five-pointed star in placed at the center of the flag. The proportion is roughly 2:3.
Symbolism
The color format exercises the customary Pan-African colors, and the tricolor drawing is tailored from the flag of France.
- Green stands for the woods and forests in the southern part of Cameroon. It also indicates hope
- Red signifies unity among the people
- Yellow indicates the sun, prosperity and the savannas in the northern sector of the nation
- The central star is referred to as "the star of unity"
The flag was adopted in its current form on May 20, 1975 after Cameroon turned into a unitary state.
