Flag of Antigua and Barbuda
The national flag of Antigua and Barbuda is partitioned into three triangles, two right-angled triangles at the extreme ends touching the bottom baseline and an inverted isosceles triangle in the center, with a yellow rising sun placed on two horizontal blue and white bar. The right-angled triangles are red in color and the central triangle is black in color. The black color symbolizes the African ancestry of the people, the red for energy, and the blue for hope. The sun signifies the beginning of a new age. The flag was crafted by a school teacher named Reginald Samuels (who was the winner of the flag designing competition which witnessed participation of 600 locales). The flag was adopted on February 27, 1967. The blue also stands for the Caribbean Sea, and the V-shape is the sign of victory.
