Flag of Lithuania
Lithuania’s yellow, green and red tricolor was first adopted as the national flag in 1918, with official sanction following four years later. This flag remained in use until the republic’s amalgamation into the USSR in 1940. The yellow band symbolizes ripening wheat and consequently agricultural wealth and freedom from want. Green recalls the country’s forests, and hope, while red represents love of the country, as well as referring to the color of the old banners of the medieval kingdom of Lithuania. The tricolor began to reappear in public in early 1990, prior to the disintegration of the USSR.
The ratio of the flag is 2:3.
