Flag of Hong Kong
When Hong Kong was a British possession, it used a British Blue Ensign with the colony’s badge, dating from1959, in the fly. In July 1997 the territory reverted to China, but remained a Special Administrative Region with its own flag. The new flag, like the Chinese flag, is red to represent Communism and features a central emblem of a bauhinia, a local flower which has also appeared on Hong Kong stamps since 1968. The five red stars within the petals also recall the flag of China.
The ratio of the flag is 2:3.
