Flag of Honduras
Like Costa Rica, a member of the United Provinces of Central America, Honduras’ lag was officially adopted on 1866. Five stars show hope for reunification of the provinces. The naval ensign has arms. The arms are a triangle for equality and justice, on a shore behind two towers for independence. These are set in an oval border which is inscribed in Spanish ‘Free, Sovereign, Independent’, with the date of independence, 15 September 1821. Above are arrows for the original inhabitants, cornucopias for prosperity, with trees and industrial emblems completing the entire design. The arms do not appear on the state flag, only on the naval ensign.
The ratio of the flag is 1:2.
