Flag of Grenada

The flag of Grenada was adopted on7 February, 1974 on independence from Britain, United Kingdom. It is quartered by two diagonals, with two yellow triangles top and bottom, and two green triangles in the hoist and fly. A red border surrounds these, with six five-pointed yellow stars long top and bottom, and a seventh in a red disc in the center of the diagonals. The central star, encircled in a red disc, stand for St. George, Grenada’s capital. The seven stars represent the island’s parishes and the nutmeg (which is a major crop in Grenada) in the green triangle of the hoist shows the island’s main resource. The colors, too, are symbolic; green color is for vegetation and the agricultural land; yellow color stands for the sunshine, wisdom and warmth; and red color represent for the freedom, courage, people’s passion and vitality. They are also the colors of the nationalist Pan-African movement.

The flag was crafted by Anthony C. George of Soubise in Saint Andrew Parish. The ratio of the flag is 2:3.
