Flag of Pitcairn Islands

Pitcairn Island was the place chosen by several of the mutineers from HMS Bounty as their home in 1790, and this is one of the elements represented in the Island’s flag. The blue field indicates the Pacific Ocean and, the green triangle reflects Pitcairn itself and the gold edging around the island’s beaches. Set within the triangle are a Bible, representing the importance of Christianity, and the anchor of the Bounty. The crest is a wheelbarrow and a food plant to show the traditional importance of agriculture. The arms themselves date from 1969 but the flag was adopted more recently, in 1983. The islands are a British Colony.

The ratio of the flag is 1:2.
