Flag of Pakistan

The flag of Pakistan, officially adopted in 1947, is based on the flag of the All-India Muslim League, a body which spearheaded the struggle of South Asia Muslims for a separate Muslim State. Pakistan gained independence in 1947 when India was partitioned into two separate dominions on British withdrawal, and it became an Islamic Republic in 1956. The national flag is green with a white vertical bar at the hoist, a white central crescent and a five-pointed white star. The white and green color together stands for peace and prosperity. The crescent indicates progress, and the five-rayed star light and knowledge. The green, the star and the crescent are also traditional Islamic designs.

The ratio of the flag is 2:3.
