Flag of Namibia

Formerly the trust territory of South West Africa, Namibia was occupied by South Africa until 1990. The national flag adopted on independence was based on the winner of a competition and uses the colors found in the flags of certain Namibian political parties. Blue symbolizes the sky, the Atlantic Ocean and the importance of water and rain; red stand for the Namibian people and their aspirations of a fair and equitable society; and green represents the evergreen vegetation and the agricultural resources. The white fimbriations denote peace and unity, while the sun depicts life and energy, and gold color indicate the sun’s warmth, the golden plains and color of the desert.

The ratio of the flag is 2:3.
