Flag of Micronesia

When the Marshall Islands and Palau broke away from the original United States Trust Territory of Micronesia in 1979, the country was renamed as the Federated States of Micronesia and a new flag was adopted. The old one had been based on the field of blue of the United Nations flag, as the islands had been entrusted to the United States of America by the United Nations. The six stars represented the original six areas of the islands. The four stars of the current flag stand for the members left in the federation: Kosrae, Pohnpei, Truk and Yap. Each of the separate states also has its own flag.

The ratio of the flag is 10:19.
